Getting to Jindabyne
Whether your accommodation is in Jindabyne, Perisher or Thredbo (or surrounds), your first step is to get to Jindabyne, but that can be a little tricky depending on when you plan to arrive.
If you have a car, we recommend driving to Jindabyne so that you have it for the season. There is limited public transport in the area so having a car makes life easier, particularly if your accommodation or job is a little way out of town.
The drive to Jindabyne is 2 hours from Canberra, 5 hours from Sydney, or 7 hours from Melbourne.
If you do not have a car, we recommend getting to Canberra and then catching the bus from Canberra to Jindabyne.
Bus Services to Jindabyne
The easiest way to book to get to Jindabyne via bus is to use the NSW Train Link; you can choose Sydney or Canberra as your departure location and enter 'Jindabyne Coach Stop' as your destination. NSW Train Link services run year round.
From the 6th of June until the October long weekend Greyhound run their Snow Express to Jindabyne, the Ski Tube (Bullocks Flat) and Thredbo.
Getting around Jindabyne
The Snowy Mountains Bus service runs 7 days a week from the start of June until the October long weekend. The service runs on a loop from Station Resort (Park & Shuttle Bus), and travels between stops in Jindabyne, Tyrolean Village, and East Jindabyne. Passengers can connect with Perisher, Thredbo, the Skitube, and Cooma (via Berridale) services from the Snowy Region Visitor Centre in Jindabyne. Click here for the timetable.
Taxi and Uber are few and far between in the area, your best bet is the bus or walking.
The Banjo Paterson Inn (The Banjo) and Lake Jindabyne Hotel (The LJ) provide courtesy buses to and from their venues; try calling them ahead of time for a pick-up.
